Professional Summary

I'm a freelance science writer, editor and project manager specializing in health and environmental topics. I work on projects for both consumer and professional audiences.

I've written for The New York Times (science pages), Smithsonian, Discover, Self, Health, Cosmopolitan, and many other national publications.

I've also worked as an editorial consultant for many medical and scientific institutions, such as Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Harvard Medical School, the American Medical Association, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Forest Service, the National Institutes of Health, and several medical communications companies.

Consulting services include writing and editing feature articles, patient education materials, journal articles, interactive media content, newsletters, book chapters, continuing medical education programs, and technical reports, as well as managing editorial projects from start to finish (sometimes coordinating the work of large teams of unruly co-authors).

I have an MA in science journalism from New York University and a BA in environmental biology from CU.

Prior to freelancing, I was a senior editor at Audubon magazine and a staff writer for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
