I have 8 years experience as a freelance science writer, covering topics from computer science to evolutionary biology. My PhD is in physics, with a focus on chemistry, so I can write about those topics at a high level. I am available for journalistic writing as well as conference/meeting reports, dissertation editing, and other projects.
I was an intern at National Public Radio's science desk. I have created, written, and produced three podcast series and can write and produce podcasts for a wide variety of clients. I also provide training (from 2 hour workshops to multiple day consulting) to get you ready to make your own podcast, from vision to equipment to polished piece.
I also provide consulting and writing services for formal and informal science education and public outreach -- museums, public outreach, professional organizations, and universities. Please see my website at http://sciencegeekgirl.com for more information, or contact me to discuss your particular project. I have expertise in science education research, inquiry activities, institutional and curriculum reform, teacher professional development, and public outreach.
I was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Exploratorium Museum of Science in San Francisco -- a world-famous hands-on inquiry science museum. I am currently a professional research associate in the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative at the University of Colorado at Boulder, creating and researching curriculum changes for junior-level physics majors.
